Importing Issues into Jira

Issues can be imported to a Jira project by using Import Project wizard.

In this example I am going to explain how to import issues (Bug, User Story etc) into a Jira Agile project.

First create the excel with the list of issue to be imported into Jira project.
Example excel below:

Save the file into CSV format [Open excel file | File | Save As | CSV (Comma delimited

Now open Jira Administration

Project | Import External Project

Import wizard opens in Jira

Click CSV

Choose File

Select the CSV file (which is saved in the computer hard drive) | Click Open

Click Next

Select the project where the issues need to be imported from the drop down project list.

In this case [Project is “Scrum Project Demo1]

Map the CSV filed with the Jira Field

Enable check box > Map field value

Click Next

Verify the “Target value in Jira” field

Click Begin Import

Now open the Agile Scrum board

Issues have been imported to the backlog section of the Scrum board [Project = Scrum Project Demo1]
